Chiang Mai Night Safari/Royal Flora Garden

Without the pressure of the CELTA course, we began to take some time to see more of Chiang Mai. On October 20, George took a long walk from Vdara to the Night Safari to get tickets for that evening to celebrate Mary's birthday the next day. The Vdara Resort is set in a very rural locale but not very far from a bustling market and some busy roads. The immediate vicinity of Vdara has some beautiful trees and flowers and interesting sites.

A nearby motel called "Entertain."  We were told the curtains in front
of the parking spaces are to hide the cars of visiting guests.

New housing developments abut rice fields.

There are a lot of chickens and dogs roaming the roads.

And closer to the Night Safari.

But it's the animals you come to see.

On the way back to Vdara, George saw a Brahma bull in the road;
the farmer was close behind.

Mary and George came back that evening for dinner at the Giraffe Restaurant.

And then Mary fed the baby tiger!

The Night Safari itself was better as an abstract concept than a reality -- it was dark as we rode a tram around the park and they would shine a light at the animals we passed.  It was hard to capture that with a camera.  Below are part of a giraffe and some black bears.

We stayed around to see the cabaret and the fountain/laser shows.

We headed back the next day to see the ROYAL FLORA GARDEN and for Mary to see the Night Safari park in daytime.
